Manufacturing Process
1. Sheet extrusion
In the extrusion process, plastic is fed, either in the form of pellets or dry blend powder, into a heated "barrel" where one or more screws compact, melt, and homogenize it, feeding it into a flat die or a head that shapes the finished or semi-finished product. In most cases, mono-screw extruders use pellets and double-screw extruders use dry blend powder.
2. Vacuum thermoforming
Thermoforming is the term commonly used for the process of producing articles formed from a flat sheet, with the help of pressure and/or vacuum and temperature.
The products obtained by thermoforming, in their most elaborate form, can achieve demanding tolerances, well-defined details, and narrow specifications.
When advanced finishing techniques are used, high-tech thermoformed products can achieve results similar to those obtained through injection molding.
